Saint-Peter'a Parish / South Branch

Established in 1847
First church in 1847
First pastor in 1887

Saint Peter`s church on the South branch of the Nicholas River was built in 1847 to accommodate the Irish families that had settled the area.  It started under the direction of the parish in Richibucto-Village, then the parish of Ste-Anne-de-Kent and finally around 1920 the parish of Rexton.  It is still an active community and a Hall was built around 1950-1960.

With the diocesan restructuring, the parishes of Rexton, Kouchibouguac and South Branch were regrouped to form a Pastoral Unit.
